SD HISTORY:
Newly franchised in the American Football League, the Chargers moved from LA to San Diego where they played in Balboa Stadium. During their six winning years at Balboa Stadium, they hosted the AFL championship games in '61, '63 and '65 before moving to the new San Diego Stadium (now Qualcomm Stadium) in Mission Valley.

Mission Valley Shopping Center opens.
