OUR VILLAGE:
St. Vincent's opens Bishop Maher Center on 15th Street, next to the Joan Kroc Center, to shelter 150 single men.

The Ladies Guild launches another of its charity events for Center residents, the annual Easter Shopping Spree for parents to select Easter clothes for their children at no charge.

In 1989, volunteers provided 55,694 hours of service to neighbors in need at the Center.
