OUR VILLAGE:
Father Joe estimated there were about 3,000 homeless people on any given night in San Diego. Today the Village provides 881 beds or 47 percent of all the transitional housing beds in the city of San Diego.

SD HISTORY:
A big year in San Diego sports, the Super Bowl was held in newly renamed Qualcomm Stadium, and the San Diego Padres won the National League Pennant and went on to play in the World Series.

FATHER JOE:
President Bill Clinton presented Father Joe a silver medallion, recognizing his involvement with volunteer community service.
