Health Services
“When I came to SVDP … I did not know how to take care of my pains, but somehow I managed to convince myself to go to the clinic. That’s where I met the nurses, and they helped me with my pills and other things. If you are hurting bad or just a little, go see the people down in the clinic.” – Village graduate
The licensed Village Family Health Center serves more than 2,000 uninsured patients each year, offering help for acute and chronic medical conditions, psychiatric care, specialty medical care and consultation, and preventive screenings. The Center provides close to 60,000 patient visits annually. All consultation and treatment, including laboratory tests and medications, are provided free of charge to patients. Basic dental services are available to residents and homeless community members. Prenatal care is available to all neighbors in need who come to the Village Family Health Center.
A Mobile Medical Unit provides additional community health outreach to the uninsured.
The Village Family Health Center is also the medical “home” for San Diego’s Serial Inebriate Program.
Community partnerships are vital to the success of all Health Services provided through the Village. See fact sheet for a complete list of partnering organizations.
