Transitional Housing
“Before arriving here I was homeless, an alcoholic and a very depressed person. Through St. Vincent’s programs I learned to be a worthwhile citizen again. Staff was caring and helpful in turning my life around. There is compassion behind these walls.” – Village graduate
Residents who have completed the requirements in the Interim Housing program may move into Transitional Housing. Each family and single adult in the Transitional Housing program works closely with a case manager, who provides guidance on the resident’s plan toward self-sufficiency. Transitional Housing residents may remain at the Village up to an additional two years if needed, depending on their progress with their case plans, which are monitored weekly and evaluated quarterly.
Impact:
Each year 496 residents are served in Transitional Housing, receiving a total of 119,355 shelter nights.
Single adults who have participated in the Transitional Housing program are six times more likely to move into permanent housing at the end of their stay than if they hadn’t progressed to Transitional Housing. Families are two times more likely.
